Hey y’all! I’m so glad you’re here! Do you get tired of seeing the same old space, but do not want to spend the money on a total room rehab? Yeah, me too! Plus, who wants to have to wait for your packages to come in? No one! I have come up with a list 5 Great Ways to refresh your bedroom, or any room for that matter, without breaking the bank.
1. Get A Plush Rug
Adding a rug to your room is a huge game changer for making your room feel fresh and new, while still being cozy. If you have wood floors, I would suggest getting a rug with some visual texture. If you have carpeted floors, I would suggest a rug with less visual texture. Go for a rug with a visually interesting design. This rug is from Wal-Mart. Click HERE for this rug. Here are some great examples of rugs I recommend depending on the type of flooring in your bedroom.
These rugs have texture that you can feel with your hands. You can feel the dips, bumps, and puffs of the material in the rug. Adding a textured rug to hard floors creates more interest in the room without making the room feel too boring or flat. These are all great examples of rugs for hard floors. With carpeted floors, the purpose of the rug is to add visual interest, while also toning down the texture. Adding rugs that have little texture physically, but have colored designs and patterns creates interest without making the room seem too busy or heavy. These are all great examples of rugs for carpeted floors. Click HERE to shop the rugs above.
2. Reupholster Your Bed
I actually did this without watching any tutorials or seeking help and it turned out great! I ordered a white linen fabric from amazon that was big enough and long enough to cover my headboard. Then i ordered extra fabric just in case I messed up. Overall, I spent around $20 to reupholster my bed and it completely transformed my master bedroom. It only took me about an hour, so it is not time consuming either. Before my headboard was a satin fabric and was a tan color, which did not match what I wanted my master colors to be. Overall, once I was done my master felt entirely different and brand new. Click HERE to shop the fabric I used.
3. Move Your Furniture Around
One of the best tips that I could give to someone trying to make their space feel new and bright, while still feeling at home and cozy is to decorate with things that mean something to you. I love to use items that others would see as junk and repurpose it. Doing this creates something visually interesting and unique. This makes the decor meaningful because you created decor with your own hands and with items you sought out and put together. This also makes your space feel unique and new. Instead of buying decor that hundreds or thousands of other people have, you have unique and hand-arranged decor. Adding items like a souvenir you got on a trip, or a mirror your great grandmother owned makes everything feel new and old at the same time. This is the best combination for giving an old space new life. Here is an example of two picture frame-like wooden items I got for free from my mother’s garage and how I used them to make something new and interesting.
This is a project that you can tackle at any time. It does not require any preparation or ordering which is great because you do not have to spend any money. This allows you to experience your space in an entirely different way immediately. When I am wanting to move my furniture around, I try to put the furniture in the most unexpected places. Often times, this inspires an idea that I love and would not have thought of otherwise. To save yourself time and energy, it is often helpful to draw the room out and rearrange the furniture on paper. There is no heavy lifting when brainstorming like this. It helps to free your creative side and inhibitions with moving furniture to odd places.
4. Paint Your Walls
Now, this seems like an obvious one, but if you paint your master a different color, or even add texture with paint it often makes the room feel fresh, new, and luxurious. A gallon of paint is under $50 usually, so it is a great way to spruce up your space without having to make big purchases. Adding a focal wall also will make your space feel fresh and unique. It is also quite easy to create texture with paint. I am definitely NOT suggesting to sponge paint your master. We all know how badly that can turn out. Instead, check out these examples of adding texture and interest to your walls with paint.
5. Get New-to-you Decor
